‘Namgis Business Development Corp. (“NBDC”) is a newly launched entity owned by the ‘Namgis First Nation (“NFN”). The organization is the umbrella for many ‘Namgis-owned and operated businesses and they are seeking a local ‘Namgis artist to design the artwork for a logo to be integrated into the new branding for one of their businesses, which is currently named Alert Bay Cabins.
We are looking for the design of a logo that:
Celebrates the natural landscape
Showcases the strong indigenous cultural and artist traditions or highlights contemporary cultural arts
Conveys symbolically the tourism experience enjoyed in the area
Is created in a medium that can be transferred to a digital format. (Most artwork can be transferred, so artists skilled with painting or drawing etc. are welcome to apply and costs will be responsibility of NBDC.)
The submission steps are:
Submit the Expression of Interest via the online form HERE, or on the second page of the PDF below. Outline your idea, cost, and timelines. Please submit by March 31, 2022.
Artists will be contacted for an interview by April 7, 2022.
Project will start by April 8, 2022, with a first draft submitted by April 30, 2022. Completion is expected by May 15, 2022.

Once developed, all ownership and rights of the design are to be transferred to the NBDC with no restrictions on use.
NBDC’s mandate is “To maximize the potential of commercial holdings, identify opportunitiesand develop new businesses for further economic growth and benefits for the Nation that is aligned with NFN’s mission statement.”
NFN’S mission statement is “Based on a foundation of culture, the ‘Namgis First Nation Council will strive to create a self-governing, prosperous, healthy community with a strong, self-sustaining economy so that every member has the opportunity to achieve their highest potential.”
